Common questions
Because the file is a JPG. JPEG has no alpha channel, so the paper around the strokes is stored as white pixels. Converting to a PNG with transparency is the only fix — the format has to change, not just the colour.
Anywhere the signature needs to sit over existing content: a PDF signature field, a Word letter over a letterhead, an email footer, or an invoice template. It is also the format most e-signature platforms accept for an uploaded image signature.
Aim for roughly 600 to 1000 pixels wide for a signature that will print at normal size. Larger gives you room to scale down cleanly; much smaller and the strokes soften when placed at full width on a page.
Confirm the downloaded file is a .png, not a .jpg that was renamed. Some older document templates also flatten transparency on paste — inserting as a picture from file rather than pasting usually preserves it.
An image of a signature is not the same as a digital signature certificate, and validity depends on what the receiving party requires. Many routine documents accept an image; anything requiring a DSC or an Aadhaar eSign does not. Check before you rely on it.
