How this tool behaves
My phone photo is uneven — one side is darker
Uneven lighting is the common failure. Raise the threshold until the dark corner drops out, and if that also removes real strokes, re-photograph the sheet flat under even light rather than fighting it with the slider.
Why is the output ragged around the edges?
A hard threshold produces hard edges. Photograph or scan at a higher resolution — 300 DPI or better — so there are more pixels along each stroke, and the edge reads smoothly when the result is scaled down.
Can I use this on a stamp or a seal?
Yes, the same threshold logic applies to any high-contrast mark on paper. Coloured seals need a higher threshold than black ink because red and blue have higher luminance than black.
What format should I save as?
PNG, when you intend to place the signature over an existing document, because it keeps the transparency. JPG, when the portal explicitly requires JPEG — in that case the background is filled white rather than left transparent.
Is my signature image sent to a server?
No. This page processes the image in browser memory and has no upload step. Nothing is stored, and refreshing the page clears both the input and the result.
