Common questions
Blue distinguishes an originally signed document from a photocopy, which reproduces in black. Several state public service commissions, notarised affidavits and bank instruments state a blue-ink preference for exactly this reason.
The tool maps ink intensity rather than flood-filling, so dark strokes become dark blue and faint strokes become lighter blue. Pressure variation and the tapering at the end of a stroke survive the conversion.
Raise the ink threshold until only the pen strokes are picked up and the paper drops away. Scanner shadow usually sits between luminance 200 and 240, so a threshold near 185 removes it without eating the lighter strokes.
Yes. Switch the background control to transparent and the output is a PNG with only the strokes retained, which is what you want when placing the signature over an existing document.
Recolouring your own signature for a form that requests blue ink is an ordinary formatting step. It does not create a signature you did not make. Do not use this to alter a document you did not sign, or to make a copy appear to be an original where that distinction carries legal weight.
